FURIDASHI is one of Japanese tea ceremony items that exists from 400 years ago.
An Japanese out door tea service is called Nodate.
Mainly in spring and summer, Nodate would be given in Japanese gardens.
A small tea cup, tea pot and FURIDASHI which are in a hand carry tea box would be used for the service.
FURIDASHI was also used as a small candy container.
People back then used it to carry little colorful spiky candies called Konpeito.
Ryota Aoki found the aesthetics of FURIDASHI about 10 years ago.
He was giving himself a japanese tea shop tour as a study and found a small ceramic bottle with a corn leaf bung.
This was the moment when he first met FURIDASHI.
He was completely in love with it's function and shape, and realized it's vanishing from the present culture,
he wanted to re-make it into a contemporary and brand new version with his own hand before anybody did for decades.
This was the beginning of his journey making the Bling-bling series FURIDASHI.
The birth of Ryota's new FURIDASH was the birth of a contemporary minimum candy holder.
We find many different kinds of mini candies today, and he would always choose to carry his favorite mint candies "Frisk."
Finding a resemblance in these two names made him a perfect sense to carry this mini candy.
